The Boxwave MiniBuds are portable bud type headphones that have a cord reel built into the cord. They are made to be portable and yet high quality. There are also two colors available, white or black, and also two sizes, 3.5mm or 2.5mm (3.5 is a standard headphone jack, 2.5 is like a cell phone headphone jack). In this review, I reviewed a black 3.5mm setup.

The MiniBuds came in a simple clear plastic pouch with an insert that had some simple instructions on it. On one end of the MiniBuds there are the two regular bud style headphones. Next there is a cable minder that slides down about half way down the wire to make a point where the two wires (one from each bud) come together into one. Then there is the center wheel that the wire winds into. The back of the circle also has a metal clip that is helpful for when you want to store the MiniBuds. Half of the wire is on each side of the middle circle winder. On the other end of the winder there is the standard headphone plug.

To use the MiniBuds, you simple pull the wire out on each side of the center circle, it then locks into different positions. To wind up the cable, you just pull on both sides again, and then the spring loaded center circle winds the wire back up. When full extended the MiniBuds are about 3ft long from the headphone jack to the ear buds.

I find that the sound quality is very good through the MiniBuds. The only thing that can be lacking is the bass, but this is normal with bud headphones. The sound comes through clear and crisp and sounds great. On my X50v the sound is awesome!

Overall the MiniBuds are a great system. They work well, have great sound, and are compact. I love using them with my PDA and they are easy to throw in a pocket which makes me use them even more!

Thanks to Boxwave for the Review Sample!
