Contour Design iSee for iPod Touch
Price: $29.95

Another hard skin style case from Contour Design, one of the best at hard skin type cases in my opinion, the iSee provides a crystal clear option with belt clip.

Design 9/10

The iSee Touch is very similar in design to the Showcase and has the same dock connector protectors and pass through button on the top for the standby button. The main difference comes in that the iSee is completely clear and instead of using a hinge/sliding lock closure the iSee is a more typical snap together type hard case. The front and back are separate pieces that snap together to form the complete shell. On the back you will also find little rubber feet for when setting the case on a flat surface, this helps prevent scratches on the case and keeps it from sliding around.

A flip up protector (same as on the Showcase) protects the dock and headphone port.

Here you can see the pass through button.

One very neat design feature of the iSee touch is that it actually includes two back pieces. One is setup to accept the belt clip and the other is made for when you do not want to use a belt clip. This lets you have a back with no stud or cover when you do not want to use a belt clip!

Build Quality 9/10

I was impressed with the feel of the plastic and build quality on the iSee. It is clearly a nicer grade of plastic in comparison to some cheaper clamshell plastic cases and it is truly crystal clear. Like the showcase, the belt clip was very good quality with a nice spring and tough feel that should make sure it sits securely where you clip it.

Usage 9/10

Inserting your iPod into the iSee consists of picking a back, setting your iPod in it, then snapping the front on. it is quick, easy, and painless. Removing is a bit more complicated than with the Showcase, but Contour Design was nice enough to make a slot that you can insert and spin a coin in that snaps the case apart fairly easily. This is a nice touch as many snap together cases require you to use your fingernails which many times does not even work and risks scratching your device if you try and use a screw driver or another sharp object.

In using the case I found it to be very low profile and overall it did not add too much bulk to the iPod Touch.

Price 8/10

Price is a bit high, but with the alternate backs included and the better feel of the plastic, this would be my pick for a snap together hard skin case and it should last you for a long time.

Overall the iSee is a great case for those wanting an all clear case, but I might strongly look at the Showcase for just $5 more if you would like a case that is a bit easier to get into and out of and that has a bit of a different look.

Pros:

  • Dual backs
  • Good quality plastic
  • Slot to ease removal

Cons:

  • Still harder to open than the Showcase
  • Almost the same price as the Showcase

Thanks to Contour Design for the review sample!
