Otter Box Armor for iPod Touch
Price: $49.95

Coming from the masters of keeping your device safe in any environment is the Armor Series for iPod Touch that should keep your device safe rain or snow and anywhere inbetween!

Design 8/10

The overall design of the Armor is similar to what we have seen in the past from Otterbox. The case is a clamshell type opening secured by a flip lock on one side. It also features a pass through port for the headphones so the case can still stay sealed. A rubber button allows you to still use the home button and there is a screen protector over the screen and the brightness sensor. One downside is that there is no button to control that standby button on the iPod Touch.

On the back we find a removable belt clip that is very durable and solid in usage.

Another nice addition to this Armor case is a removable lanyard that uses a unique T system to lock into place through molded holes. The lanyard attaches to the two top corners (opposite the headphone jack).

The design stays surprisingly thin for the amount of protection this case packs and it was still very pocketable.

Build Quality 10/10

Like all Otterbox products we have used, the build quality is perfect. All the components are perfectly formed and made and the quality of the materials is excellent. The Armor case has an exterior made of tough plastic and the inside "cradle" for the iPod Touch is made of a bit softer rubber.

Usage 7/10

Inserting the iPod Touch into the Armor case is easy as ever, simply open it up, slide it in, and close the clamshell case again. The inside has a molded rubber edge that contours to the iPod Touch and keeps it securely in place.

One downside which was my same complaint with the Otterbox Defender is that the integrated screen protector is a bit tough and hard to use the iPod through at times. It can also make a somewhat "double press" feel as you have to push down on the screen protector, and then keep pushing to make contact with the iPod screen. It is a necessary piece to keep the case sealed though, so it is something that I think you can live with for the most part.

Price 10/10

The price is outstanding in my opinion, past Otterbox full armor cases have been up to the $100 mark, so at $50 this case is a steal and will give you a smile on your face.

Overall the Otterbox Defender is a wonderful case with only one flaw, and that flaw is the screen protector. If one got adventurous they could probably easily remove it and if they did so, this would be one of the best cases for the iPod Touch on the market in my opinion.

Pros:

  • Great protection (sealed as well!)
  • Removable lanyard system
  • Removable belt clip system
  • Headphone pass through

Cons:

  • Screen Protector makes the touch screen a bit cumbersome.

Thanks to Otterbox for the review sample!
