Pogo Stylus for iPod Touch and iPhone
Price: $19.95

Styluses are a fact of life for most PDA users, but the iPod Touch and iPhone were both designed for finger only control and actually do not work with conventional styluses. Pogo Stylus is a take on making a stylus that works with the iPod Touch and iPhone.

Design 6/10

The Pogo Stylus is a very simple design that works quite well. It consists of a aluminum tube (that comes in 4 different colors) which is tipped with a plastic sponge like material. One very large negative with the tip for me was that you could compress it enough to get the metal tube to touch the device if you really tried. This is something I would be fearful of in the future for potentially scratching the screen as the tip wears!

Also included is a clip that allows you to mount the stylus on your iPod Touch or iPhone as long as you do not use it with a case.

Usage 7/10

In using the stylus I found that it was fairly responsive and worked almost as well as using a finger. The main thing that using a stylus brings is not having to get finger prints all over your device screen. I did notice that performance was drastically negatively effected by using a screen protector (which normally has no effect with using your fingers).

Price 4/10

The price is quite high and the main con with this product. At $20 for an aluminum tube with a bit of plastic sponge in the end it seems quite expensive to me.

Overall the Pogo Stylus is really the only option for a stylus to use with your iPod Touch or iPhone at this point, but it is quite expensive and does not work the greatest if you have a screen protector installed in my testing. A decent solution, but definitely for a specific niche in the market.

Pros:

  • A stylus that works on the iPod Touch/iPhone!
  • Nice aesthetic looks

Cons:

  • Does not work as well with screen protector installed
  • Tip could eventually wear or bend and edge of metal tube could potentially hit screen...
  • Price!
