Uniea U-Suit Premium for iPod Touch
Price: $35

www.Uniea.com

Uniea is a new company on the block that is coming in as an affordable leather case taking styling cues from the premium guys such as Vaja Cases. They have a few different cases for a few different Apple products and all seem to look very nice at least on their website.

Design 8/10

The U-Suit Premium has a clearly Vaja type look to it with a form fitted blend of leather and what looked to be metal trim. I had very high hopes for Uniea as it was a company taking the unique form fitted idea that the expensive case guys such as Vaja have been doing for years and applying it to a more budget minded case.

Build Quality 2/10

Sadly upon closer inspection my high hopes faded quite a bit. It was clear that this case was no where near the same league as the big premium case guns. The metal looking trim turned out to be simply painted plastic and the leather while decent, is no where near the quality of a premium leather case like Piel Frama, Sena, or Vaja. The fit itself with the iPod Touch could also use some tweaking as to slide in the iPod Touch was a bit of a chore and the case was clearly too tight in some areas.

Usage 8/10

Besides the issues with the build quality, the U-Suit uses a nice approach for usage allowing full access to the screen at all times and proper access to the ports on the bottom and standby button on the top of the iPod Touch. You lose the protection of a flip cover, but gain the ease of use without having to deal with a flip cover flopping around all the time.

Price 4/10

The price is decent, but probably still a bit high for the quality I experienced with this case. I would like to see it in the $20 price range personally.

Pros:

  • Takes design cues from premium cases like Vaja
  • Neat concept

Cons:

  • Build quality is not the best
  • Leather quality is not the best

Thanks to Uniea for the review sample!
