www.VajaCases.com Price: $80 First off I must say I am extremely happy to be able to take one of these beautiful cases and write a review on it. In the past I have reviewed a few other cases from Vaja (T616 Case and SD Card Case) and I have found them to be unbelievable quality. Vaja is unique in that you can pick almost any color combination for your case (from the list of color combinations on their site) plus you can choose if you do or do not want a belt clip. The case I received for review had no belt clip and was Caterina Black with Caterina Rosso (Black with Red). This case was made to fit my 30GB iPod Photo, but you can also receive the iVod DJ fitted for the 20gb, 40gb, and 60gb iPods.
Coming from South America, Vaja Cases are hand made of extremely high quality leather and are always made with care and perfection. The iVod came in one of Vaja's signature boxes with their logo and various other information on the outside. There also is a window which you can see the full front of the case through on the front of the box. The iVod DJ is like Vaja's iVod for iPods except over the click wheel there is a protector that looks just like a miniature vinyl record with a small leather patch in the middle. This adds a neat look plus gives protection to your iPod's click wheel. Being like a record, the protector has grooves that also give a neat feel to the touch when you go to use the click wheel. Besides this protector, the iVod DJ is identical to the iVod. Your iPod's screen is also protected in the iVod case by an integrated screen protector that is a hard crystal clear piece of plastic built into the case. This is a good and bad thing in that it provides good protection but if it does get very scratched up there is no easy way to replace it like disposable screen protectors. After taking the iVod out of the box, you will first be amazed by the great quality of the leather and craftsmanship. It really is perfect and amazing to look at. To put your iPod into the case, the cases top is open so you can slide the iPod right in. The open top also allows the iVod case to work with top mount accessories like the Macally Podwave and the Nyko iTop. In fact the Nyko iTop makes a great combo with this case for use in your pocket. Once the iPod is in the case the fit is flawless. The screen lines up perfectly and everything looks perfect. Like Vaja's other cases, the iVod adds barely any bulk to the iPod so you will enjoy not having to carry around a bulky case. You also never need to remove the iPod from the case since the sync port is open via an opening in the bottom of the case. In use the iVod DJ is amazing. With the opening for the sync port on the bottom, you can attached accessories, charge, and sync your iPod without ever removing it from the case. The integrated screen protector protects your iPod screen while the record over the click wheel protects the click wheel. The fit and protection the iVod gives to the iPod is awesome and working with this case for a few weeks I found it easy to carry around and bring with me everywhere. So now you may be wondering, why would I spend this kind of money on a iPod case? Well the answer is simple, the leather quality is like no other, the fit is perfect, the craftsmanship is perfect, and you will never find more color options anywhere! Overall this is the best case I have reviewed so far for the iPod and for that I give the iVod DJ our rarely given TechIslands Platinum Award!
Thanks to Vaja for the Review Sample!
