Proporta is looking for your feedback on which case you prefer, Side Grip or Pouch. Everyone who votes is automatically entered into a drawing to win one of 5 Proporta Gadget Bags.
"Proporta is about solutions to the problems and needs of the users of mobile devices. From the office to the great outdoors, and everywhere in between, Proporta aims to equip you with everything you could need – from mobile charging solutions to innovative device protection.
The solutions we offer are the result of our close relationship with customers, reviewers and the leading device manufacturers…as well as our willingness to listen.
We would like to ask you which case design you prefer so that we fully understand your needs as best we can. So far, people have commented on the fact that they enjoy being able to see the entirety of their device, as well as the keyboard accessibility provided by the case with side grips. They have also said that they enjoy the security of a pouch, and the fact that it adds less bulk to the device than the side grip. But what is your preference? "

Now that we are officially going to be doing reviews for the Microsoft Zune, it is not a bad idea to keep our readers up on the news with the Zune.
Today firmware version 1.3 came out that is set to directly fix Music Skipping that is downloaded from the Marketplace and to help with the issue of the FM Tuner draining the battery while the Zune is in standby mode. Our Zune took the update easily and so far all is well. |

Coming to us this week for our Forgotten Gadget of the Week is the Mousecaster. This device was the brain child of SmarTech Ltd but never did make it into the mainstream computer users arsenal.
It is a very simple and yet powerful idea, stick a FM Radio tuner in the main accessory of any computer system, the mouse! The problem was you needed to use their one style of mouse and it was not likely to be a fancy gaming mouse with buttons coming out of every surface or precision that can be used to count atoms in your mousepad (I just checked and my pad has just over 4 trillion). A few years, or maybe months, after the Mousecaster came out it was total forgotten. I guess everything Made In California does not become an instant sucess like the iPod! Amazingly enough the website is still active at MouseCaster.com. So if you are itching to get your hands on one, you might still have a chance. |

In the business of gadgets there are always those massively popular gadgets *cough* iPod *cough*, but at the same time everyday many gadgets are overlooked and forgotten about. That brings me to our brand new special news article here at Tech Islands. Every week or so we are going to be posting the Forgotten Gadget of the Week.
To start things off, this weeks FGOW is the Russian gas powered engine boot.
These "boots" were created by Viktor K. Gordeyev but soon classified by the Russian Military. After they were declassified in the 90s, Gordeyev tried to capitalize off the invention but never succeeded and the main news people have been seeing on the boots is the announcement that they will no longer be made. |
