Marware is a company that specializes in producing products to further enhance your Apple products. Since 1993 they have been making high quality cases and accessories. Today I am pleased to be able to take a look at their Sportsuit Convertible for the 4G iPod.

The Sportsuit come in a very nice looking blister pack which shows off the case and belt clip right away. This case comes in a wide variety of colors including Black, Blue, Graphite, Navy, Red, and Yellow. Our sample for review was the Navy color. Once you have the case out of the blister pack, you will notice that it is made of neoprene. This gives the case a sporty look and feel and makes it great for active lifestyles.

Inserting your iPod into the case is very easy. You will first have to un-velcro the securing strap on the top of the case. Then you are able to slide your iPod into the case. Since the case is made of neoprene, it stretches to accommodate any of the 4th Generation (4G) iPods including the iPod Photo. The front part of the case is clear, flexible plastic that has a cutout for the click wheel. This plastic offers protection to the screen and face of the iPod without having to use a screen protector.

So you may be wondering why the case is called Convertible, well the reason is that this case can act like a flip cover case, or a always open case. The lid is removable via velcro and that makes this case a great, simple, streamlined case.

There are a vast variety of ways that you can carry this case with you thanks to the Multidapt system that this case features. The Multidapt system is a mount on the back of the case that allows you to attach all types of different armbands, belt clips, bike mounts, car holders, and more to the case. I have used the Multidapt system on other cases and it seems to work very well and provide a good connection to the case. Included with the case is a stationary (non-swivel) belt clip that can be removed. Another option for carrying the case is the two straps that are vertical on the back of the case (you could easily run your belt or a strap through them). Also included is a neoprene adjustable arm band that goes through the two vertical straps. The arm band is adjustable to almost any size arm, and with the neoprene it is comfortable and easy to wear.

So you may wonder what type of protection this case provides for your iPod? Well from using this case for a few weeks I can say that it seems to provide great protection from minor bumps and falls. The neoprene is very good at absorbing shocks and bumps, plus the rubber grips on the sides make it easy to hold the case securely. When using the case as a flip top case (top attached) the front of the iPod is very very well protected also. The front is bumped out a bit plus it is reinforced to provide very good protection for your iPod's screen.

The final thing I would like to mention is the openings to use your iPods functions. On the bottom you will find a plastic cover that can be opened to reveal the sync port on your iPod (you do not have to take your iPod out of this case to sync it and charge it). On the top with the flip cover attached you will find a hole for your headphones. Without the flip cover attached (or when the flip cover is flipped open) you will find that the top is open to on the left and right so you can use the hold switch. In the center with the case open you will find a hole in the securing strap to allow access to the headphone jack (the securing strap goes right across the jack so the hole needs to be there to allow access).

Overall I found the Sportsuit to be a very good case for an active lifestyle. It provides great protection, plus it has a sport look for joggers or other active people. With all its features, it is definitely a winner!
