Pacific Design 4G Flip Case Pacific Design has recently supplied us with their brand new case, the 4G Flip Case for iPods. In the past we have tried some of Pacific Design's laptop and backpack bags and today I am excited to try out their newest product, the Flip Case. After opening the box, I took a look at the case. The quality seemed to be very good, it is not the highest quality material, but it comes off very nice looking and very smooth to the touch. The case felt good in my hand and seemed to look very nice also. All the stitching around the case and cutouts was flawless and looked perfect. For our review we received a black and pink version of the case. Both looked very nice and depending on your likes, there are also five other colors available.
Looking closer at the case you can easily see that the front closure is magnetic. This is very neat as you do not have to worry about straps or snaps, plus it gives a very nice finished look when closed. You should not worry about the magnets damaging your device as they are low power and should do no damage to your iPod, but they do have enough power to hold the case lid shut securely. Inside the case you will find that it is mostly clear so you can see the screen and front of the iPod. Around the click wheel the clear part is cut away in a circle to allow access to the click wheel. On the bottom you will find a cutout for the sync connector and on the top you will find a cutout for the headphone jack. Another neat feature is that the inside of the case is covered in a felt like material to protect your iPod from scratches. To fit most of the 4G (4th Generation) iPods, the case has a bit of stretchy material on the sides to accommodate the difference in thickness between different iPods. I tried my 30gb iPod photo in the case and the fit seemed very good. The only thing that was a problem was the sync connector sat low in the cutout. It was still usable, but sometimes needed to be pulled on a bit to get into the proper place. Another interesting thing is that the top of the case leaves about 1/4 inch between the top of the iPod and the top of the inside of the case. This is a bit weird but I think it is for extra protection and ease of inserting headphones. On the back of the case you will find a strap that snaps on the lower back that you can use to go around your belt. It is not as easy to use as a belt clip, but does work well and does not add barely any bulk to the case. In use the case worked very well. I felt it provided good protection and was very slim and easy to carry around. The material is easy to hold in your hand and feels good to the touch. I would recommend this to people looking for a slim, professional looking iPod case. Pros:
