Atech Flash Card Readers
www.AtechFlash.com
The first one is the Pro 2
It is the simplist of the three i am going to review and it has very basic features. The pro 2 has a usb port on the front and can be mounted internally or externally. It goes in your 3.5" dirve bay if you mount it internally. You connect it via usb or you also can use the included adapter to connect it directly to the mainboard if you have on board usb pins. It is white in color and it accepts the following types of cards....
-Compact Flash (CF)
-Microdrive (MD)
-Secure Digital (SD)
-Multi Media Card (MMC)
-Smart Media (SM)
This reader seems to work great and it is also nice that it has a front usb port.
I give this one 3 out of 5 stars only because it dosent take alot of kinds of memory.
Next is the Pro 3
It is the middle one in the three i am reviewing and has a few more features than the pro 2. It has no front usb port but it does have a front firewire 4 pin port. It is black which is nice for people with darker colored cases. It is connected via a internal usb cable or it can be connected with a standard usb cable for external use. You also need to connect it with a 6 pin firewire cable(included) to use the firewire. It again is 3.5" and accepts the following types of cards....
-Compact Flash (CF)
-Microdrive (MD)
-Secure Digital (SD)
-Multi Media Card (MMC)
-Smart Media (SM)
-Memory Stick (MS)
This reader is great since it is black and that it accepts memory sticks.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars since it is a great reader but usb in front is better than firewire for most users.
Finally the Pro Gear
This is a new type of reader that really makes the most sense to be mounted internally. It has a usb port and 4 pin firewire port on the front plus the card reader. The cool thing about this reader is that it can pull out and be used as a separate usb card reader for a laptop or other computer while leaving the usb port and firewire port back on the computer. Plus the reader is very small and portable. To get a better idea follow link 1 on the bottom of the page. When removed or docked the reader can read.....
-Compact Flash (CF)
-Microdrive (MD)
-Secure Digital (SD)
-Multi Media Card (MMC)
-Smart Media (SM)
-Memory Stick (MS)
-Memory Stick Pro (MSpro)
This gives the reader the ability to read most types of cards anywhere. I connects only by internal connectors(included) to connect directly to your mainboards usb pins. So make sure your mainboard has these pins. It also connects via 6 pin firewire for the front firewire port. When undocked the reader connects with a standard usb cable.
I give this reader 5 out of 5 for its great functionality and usability
