Boxwave FlexiSkin for the X50 Series Lately we have been reviewing many cases for the X50 series and it is amazing all the styles and types that have come onto the market in the last few months. Today I am proud to review a new twist on a current style case that in my mind is unique from other standard leather or metal cases. The company, Boxwave, the case, their new FlexiSkin Case for the X50 Series.
Boxwave has supplied us with quite a few products for review and they have always been of great craftsmanship and quality. This product does not differ from their past expertise. Coming in a clear blister pack, the first presentation is very appealing. The FlexiSkin is made of clear flexible plastic and is form fitted to the X50. The plastic is the same type of flexible plastic found on the Proporta and JavoEdge Silicone Cases. This case is very similar to both of those but with one major improvement/difference, this case has a clear cover over the screen that hinges open and closed. With the addition of this cover, this case can give all the benefits of a silicone case like its thin dimensions, and durability, with the added protection to your screen. All the main cutouts are there (power button, dpad w/buttons, side wireless buttons, headphones, sync port), but most are just cut into the silicone a bit so the buttons are still really inside the case. This is great as it provides great protection for all the buttons. Also with the lid over the screen being clear and the ability to push the buttons with the case closed, you can still use the device with the clear lid closed. I really find this a great feature as you can look up your contacts, appointments, or other info without even opening the case. To insert the Dell into the case, you slide it in from the top, this is different from the usual silicone case procedure where you have to put the device in through the screen opening. This is a good and bad thing in that it is easy to put in compared to other silicone cases, but it does make it so the top is totally open. On the back of the case you will find a screw on belt clip post that is made of metal. The belt clip that comes with the case is also smoked clear so it blends in with the case. Using the belt clip is simple and it seems to stay connected to the case very well even over extended periods of time. In use the FlexiSkin works great and looks good. It adds barely any bulk to the X50, yet it adds scratch and some bump protection. Still it has the problem that most other silicone cases have and that is that it like to attract dust. Luckily you can wash the case easily and it turns back good as new. But unlike other silicone cases, it provides good protection for the screen also! Overall I really like the FlexiSkin. It provides good protection in a low bulk case and lets you use the X50 with the case closed. Pros:
