This is a review of the Nite Ize Universal Stand Up PDA Holster.

Before I start, I must say this is a universal PDA case. This means that it is not custom fitted to any particular PDA so the fit will depend on the size of your PDA. Smaller PDAs may have more space in the case while larger ones may stretch the case a bit to be able to fit. In my review, I test the case with the Dell Axim X5 (a larger PDA) and the Dell Axim X50v (a smaller PDA).

When I first received the case I was amazed by the great packaging, it looked like I just picked it up from a retail store and the box had details all about the case as seen in the following pictures:

This case is very unique in that the back part of the case is one large flexible tab that connects at the top. This tab is made of a flexible metal that makes it so it can be positioned in any which way plus it is strong enough that it can be used as a stand for your PDA. The tab also has a snap towards the bottom so that it can clip onto your belt.

The case is divided into a few different areas accessible from the top. The main area is where your PDA is and is the largest. Then behind the PDA there is a small flexible pocket that seems to work great for memory cards or other smaller flat items. There is a similar flexible pocket in front of the PDA that also has a mini pocket inside of it. This again would be great for memory cards. There is also a pen loop in the area with the PDA that works great to put a pen or stylus in. On either side of the case there are more slim pockets for putting various items in. Then on the front there is a zippered area that is great to put little object in or even a small sync cable. All this is then covered by the flap that flips over and secures the PDA and anything in any of the open pockets. The flap on the top right (when looking straight at it from the front) by the PDA comes in at an angle to allow you to use your headphones if the headphone jack on your PDA is on the right (on my X5 it is, on my X50v it isnt). Another thing to note is that the PDA slot areas bottom is not solid, the PDA is kept in place by two straps that then come up to form the edges of the case. The other pockets all have the bottom closed. All these different parts come together to make a very stretchy case that can fit to almost any sized PDA and is mounted to a metal back plate that keeps your PDA very safe.

For using the case as a stand, you strap the PDA to the front of the case via two stretchy cords. The cords also add strength to the case when your PDA is inside of the case. There are also two rubber corner pieces on the bottom two corners of the main back piece (visible in the pictures below) that keep the case from sliding when you prop it up via the second piece of metal that folds out. The metal that folds out is flexible yet strong enough to keep its shape when using the case as a stand. The whole setup works very well and is great for people that use a BT keyboard or other keyboard. Here are some pictures of the X5 and X50v in the stand position:

I also took this picture with the X5 in the storage area and the X50v in the Stand position:

Overall this is one of the best universal cases I have ever seen/used. It is great with the stand built in and the protection it offers is very good. The fit for my X5 was excellent, the X50v did not fit as well since it is a smaller PDA. The case can be a bit bulky if you want a really slim case, but it does offer lots of pockets to put all your accessories in, and the protection is superb. I would recommend this case to anyone that wants a universal case that has great protection, lots of places to put things, and a cool stand built in.
